Here's a little something about a segment of agriculture with which you might not be familiar.
Did you know that certain ag crops are grown to produce beneficial pharmaceutical products? Well, it’s true. Many ag crops are grown specifically to produce medicines. How about that! Now, some of these crops, not all but some, need to be genetically engineered in order to do this. However, the end result is potential medical breakthroughs benefiting all mankind. Who knows, someday it may be just such an ag product that cures cancer or aids. Keep in mind, it can take a lot of research, a lot of money and a great deal of valuable time to grow these crops.
Well, hold on to your socks because I’m going to tell you something you may find hard to believe!
As I said, it takes a great deal of research, money and valuable time to grow these pharmaceutical ag crops. And don’t forget, time is of the essence trying to come up with a medicine that may cure a horrible disease.
Well, listen to this… some radical activist groups have sued the USDA in an effort to stop them from granting permits to growers interested in producing these genetically engineered pharmaceutical crops. This is just another example of some nutty special interest groups putting their needs and desires ahead of the needs of all the people.
Baskin-Robbins should name a flavor of ice cream after these guys. They could call it "Looney Tunes and Nuts Swirl!"
