Kitt Peak National Observatory never sleeps. Time is scarce on the world’s elite telescopes. When the stars come out, everything has to work. It’s Mike Hawes’ job to keep the observatory gazing skyward. Mike has worked at the National Observatory for nearly 20 years. Mike oversees a team of ‘nuts and bolts’ guys that work the day shift at this self-contained sky city just outside Tucson, Arizona. Everyone at the Observatory relies on him. Mike works hard at Kitt Peak.
